Every day we are seeing lots of commercials promising great hair just if you’ll favor this or that brand. There are many great products on the market, but nothing will make your hair look great without keeping the scalp healthy. In other words, your scalp is a "productive ground" from which your hair will sprout and grow, so your hair must be strong enough to take all the pressure constant styling puts on them. The skin cells on the surface of the scalp naturally shed as new healthy scalp cells are formed.The vital life of a cell involves several basic needs: a supply of water & nutrients from the blood stream, a favorable environmental temperature, and the ability to "respire" and eliminate waste.
It's easy to see that the system goes out of balance; but sometimes ladies are neglecting obvious signs that something is going wrong: appearance of dandruff, annoying itching, scalp starts to produce too much oil, scalp pimples or scalp bumps. Eventually these symptoms of unhealthy scalp are leading to hair loss, which certainly no one wants.
How do you take care of scalp?
Scalp naturally secretes sebum, or oil. The goal is to have a normal clean scalp without too much or too little oil. Try ready-to-use natural scalp treatments. In case of dry or oily scalp the common problem leads to follicle damage because pores are clogged with excessive oils and dirt, or drying layer of flakes, providing a great environment for fungal infections. There is no guide that can tell you exactly how many times a week you should wash your hair, as it differs from person to person. What is significant here is that the scalp must be kept clean, so wash your hair when you feel it is needed.
Giving sufficient moisturizing is a good way to ensure that your scalp stays healthy. So use natural oils: jojoba oil has a high content of Vitamin E, which is a great moisturizer and helps keep the elasticity for the scalp. Shea butter is also another great alternative to keep the scalp moisturized as well as conditioned. Never neglect constant itching, which follows with lots of flakes. Consult a dermatologist to get the best treatment depending on your needs. It could be caused by various disorders which include psoriasis, seborrhea dermatitis, and even contact dermatitis.
- Do not apply any conditioner on the scalp as it further clogs the pores. Proper and thorough rinsing of the scalp is critical.
- Avoid exposing the scalp to temperature extremes causing by styling tools. While using a hair dryer to evenly dry your hair on low setting level, be sure to direct blow dryer heat down the hair shaft and not directly toward the scalp
- Please do NOT tie up your hair before it has completely dried to avoid extra weight on hair, so follicle has to experience mechanic damage by pulling.
- Any scalp sweats as well. At summer time or if your following a regular workout regime, it is essential to wash hair with a mild shampoo after a workout to remove drying salt deposits on the scalp.
- Use clarifying shampoos sparingly only once or twice per month, and moisturizing shampoos for weekly cleansing.
- If you are a swimmer, make sure that all traces of chlorine are washed out from the hair.
- Massage the scalp regularly using just your fingers in circular motions and place them well under the hair and right on the scalp to avoid breaking hair. It promotes blood circulation which makes your hair grow and also keeps them healthy.
- Scalp is susceptible to sunburns. Wear a hat or cover your hair with a scarf if you are going to be in the sun for long hours.
- Favor snacks rich in B vitamins: nuts, peas, and beans; choose diet that will provide you with unsaturated fats.
